Welcome to Term 2

It’s wonderful to welcome everyone back to school, refreshed and ready for a jam packed term of learning and fun. We’ve missed having our parents involved in school events and activities. We are now planning events to bring our community back together on site and look forward to sharing these with you all. Start channelling your inner child, remember the good old days and get ready to play at our upcoming loose parts workshop (date to be confirmed) – can’t wait to see you there.

ANZAC service

We commenced term two by commemorating ANZAC day with a short service run by our school captains, Harry and Yaseen. We appreciated the attendance of members of school community who enjoyed listening to the singing of Spirit of the ANZACs by our students.

The service was made even more special by the playing of the Last Post and Reveille by one of our parents, David Mitchell.

Thank you to George Watts and Owain Evans who laid wreaths on behalf of our school council and P&C.

Balloon car challenge

Term one ended with students from Pre-primary through to year 6 competing in a balloon car STEM challenge. We saw some terrific designs and plenty of enthusiasm which resulted in a tight competition.

Class winners were –

Pre-primary – Thet Way

Year 1 – Aprisa

Year 2/3 – Ben

Year 4 – Angus

Year 5/6 – Euan

Class winners all went into the grand final which was ultimately won by Euan from year 6.

May the fourth be with you

Room 4 (year 5/6) is holding a fundraiser next Wednesday the 4th of May to raise funds to go towards camp. Children are welcome to dress up as a Star Wars character or their favourite superhero, please bring a gold coin donation on the day.

Election day

Curtin Primary is again a polling booth for the federal election on Saturday May 21. The P&C and year 5/6 class will be working together to bring the following to voters on the day –

  • Cake stall
  • Bacon and egg rolls
  • Sausage sizzle

Our senior students will be running the cake stall to raise funds for their camp later this year, whilst the P&C will be firing up the BBQ.

We are looking for volunteers to help on the day – if you have an hour or two to spare we’d love your assistance (and we are sure you will enjoy helping and meeting new people). Please send an email to Mel – secretary@curtinprimarypandc.com.au if you are able to lend a hand.

P&C Meeting – Tuesday May 3

Everyone is welcome to join our P&C (parents and citizens) meeting next Tuesday, May 3 at 7:30pm in the school staff room. Come along, meet other parents, assist with planning events and fundraisers and find out more about what is happening around the school.

Our 2022 office bearers are –

President – Owain Evans

Vice President – George Watts

Secretary – Mel Jasper

Treasurer – Toby Ceff

Executive Committee Members – Rebecca Brockman & Kelly Muller
