Welcome back to school
Welcome back, we hope that everyone had a nice rest over the holidays and are ready for a busy and exciting last term of school. There is lots on the term planner this term – Golf, Rugby, Volleyball, Incursions, Excursions, Swimming and Graduation, just for starters!
We’d also like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and families that have recently commenced at our school. We hope your time with us is memorable.
With the weather set to warm up we ask you remind children to bring their hat and water bottle to school every day.

Student artwork display at City of South Perth Emerging Artist Exhibition
As an extension to our Coolangahs Kaartdijin program, recently some of our up and coming student artists had the opportunity to work with Mrs Muller and Miss Vogwill, creating artworks inspired by our native flora. Observational drawing provided the foundation for these works, encouraging students to engage with the natural bushland at “Our place” (Curtin Primary) and ultimately our wider environment.
We were given the opportunity to create a display of student artwork to be shown in conjunction with the City of South Perth Emerging Artist Exhibition. A number of the artworks completed in these sessions are now on display in the foyer of the South Perth Community Hall alongside works previously created in the Coolangahs Kaartdijin program.
It was very difficult to select the artwork to display as everyone created beautiful work, with final selection coming down to the way the artwork worked together as a group.
Congratulations to the following students whose artworks are now on display:
Mikayla, Mariia, Chelsey, Adelaide, Mila, Yaseen, Anna, Harriet, Harry, Nick and Ellie
Dr Duncan McKay (Art Officer) has kindly offered to escort all students who participated in these sessions a personal tour of the exhibition.
The exhibition is now open for public for viewing until Saturday 22 October 2022 at the South Perth Community Hall. Visitors to the exhibition can purchase artworks and nominate their favourite artwork in the Soco Realty People’s Choice Award.

Earth Day Expo excursion
To complement our Coolangahs Kaartdijin program our students in years 2-4 participated in the Earth Day Expo which was coordinated by Canning River Eco Education Centre (CREEC) and the Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE-WA). This international event is recognised by more than 150 countries around the world.
The Earth Day Expo provided fun, interactive activities that empower young people to think creatively and critically about how to generate sustainable change.
Throughout the day our students explored the following sessions:
· Djirrily Dreaming
· Waste Sorted Schools Rubbish Race Relay
· CREEC Beetles, Bees and Bugs
· Nearer 2 Nature Western Shield Program
· Millennium Kids Green Lab
